Work orders are created to produce product. In essence a work order removes purchased materials and sub assemblies from inventory and creates products.
As can be expected from a system that focuses on manufacturing companies, there are a lot of different ways of creating and managing work orders in Manu Online. In this example, the base case is shown where a single product is created without multi step routing and without data input from the shop floor.
Create a work order
On the Production menu or Open Production Work Orders menu, press the New button.
The system will prompt for the product. By default it will show products that have manufacturing planning i.e. shortages. To make another product, remove the check box from Planned manufacturing and press retrieve. It is also possible to filter by products that have material available.
The work order is created and there is a dialogue to set the quantity of product to be produced. By default the Manufacturing Batch Size value is set to the sum of the various elements of demand.
To change the batch size enter a new value and press Recalculate.
Press Ready.
A work order is created.
Printing a traveller
The traveller (sometimes know just as a "work order") is the piece of paper that most manufacturing business print to follow the work order through the production process. Often it is put into a plastic folder with any design drawings, cutting sheets etc.
Go to Choose Report, top right and choose Traveller. It will open on the screen and can be printed.
Issuing materials to a work order
There are many ways to issue materials to a work order. The fastest way in simple processes is to the the Withdraw initial materials button. This allows some or all of the material of a work order to be withdrawn at the same time. Use the Mark All button to select all the materials and click Withdraw marked.
Adjusting the materials on a work order
Go to the Items tab. Edit the value in the used qty column. After saving the line, the materials will be reduced from inventory and added as consumed on the work order. It is also possible to add materials that were not in the original product structure of the product's item card.
Moving products to stock and closing the work order
Again, the system supports many ways to move products to stock. The easiest in simple processes are to use the Move all products to stock button. This will moved the planned quantity of the work order into stock with the calculated FIFO pricing.
If no further information needs to be recorded on the work order, then press the Mark as complete button to close the work order.
