When using Manu Online for the first time, system settings are worth reviewing at least to see the best initial set up. Entering values into system settings is an iterative process through the start up, and it is possible to get quickly to reviewing business processes with minimal settings.
System settings are accessed from the Admin menu. They are divided into four categories. Read the more detailed information for each category.
Organisation
Sets up the basic structure of your organisation, particularly in a multi company environment. For initial startup all of these settings have valid default values.

The default is to track work time in minutes for an eight hour day with five working days per week.

Commercial
Settings regarding the commercial terms of your business.
For start up the most important to consider are:
- Countries - if you export or import, show the countries that you need.
- Payment terms, - e.g. "30 days net"
- Text fields - the "boiler plate" text that can be added to orders etc.
- System numbers - set numbering to continue from your previous system, such as invoices.

Settings related to items and warehouse operation

- Units of measure - pcs or kg for instance.
- Item families - grouping of items. Although not required for the operation of the system, these are very useful.

Production
Settings related to the production operations. Note that there are other important sets of data related to production that are in the normal main menu under "Factory set up". These include the set up of work cells, routes and operators. They are in the main menu so that users without administrator rights can use them.
